My Wonderful Counselor! 

There are numerous instances in the Bible where people were advised to refrain from speaking about certain matters and instead ponder them in their hearts. In Luke 2:19, it is mentioned how Mary cherished all these things concerning what the angel had spoken to her regarding the birth of Christ, carefully considering them and reflecting on them in her heart. 
 
I hear people often talking about having a covering and the need for mentors.  Well, there are many of us who have struggled to find one. In this case, Y’shua must become your covering, mentor and everything!  He will unfailingly guide you to discover everything you require until He provides you with one. This is my personal testimony. Some of us have sought mentors and desired someone to confide in, but for various reasons, the Lord did not allow it to happen. There are also those who have longed for a Holy Spirit filled church community but have been unable to find an authentic place to connect with, especially if they are unchurched like myself. Sometimes, you just don’t fit in. This is an observation based on personal experience.  More power to those who have. 
 
Due to a past incident where someone betrayed my trust and disclosed my personal matters, I have become cautious about sharing certain things with people. I recall a time when I confided in someone about a personal situation, only to encounter another individual the very next day who had been informed about everything I had shared in confidence (church people). As a result, I feed people with a long handle spoon meaning exercising caution while dealing with someone who is liable to hurt you.  If you are fortunate enough to find a trustworthy friend in this lifetime, consider yourself truly blessed! 
 
Personally, I have never sought any therapy, but neither do I discredit the value of therapy or counseling, as they can be immensely beneficial for many individuals. Each person’s trauma is different. I say, do whatever you need to do for the sake of your own mental health! If you find yourself struggling, don’t hesitate to reach out to someone you trust. It’s important to seek support when you’re not doing well.  However, I do believe it should be godly counsel. For many of us, the Lord Y’shua has served as our Wonderful Counselor. He is awe-inspiring and flawless in all His ways. He possesses unmatched wisdom and qualifications to guide and direct us. Undoubtedly, He surpasses any human counselor on this earth, and one can be assured that their personal matters will remain confidential in His care. He is a trustworthy secret-keeper! 
 
I recall an occasion when, at the request of my attorney following a car accident, I visited a therapist. However, instead of providing counseling, this therapist seemed more intrigued by me personally and my upbringing. Nonetheless, she did remind me of the importance of engaging in activities that bring me joy. 
  
It is critical to be baptized with the promised Holy Spirit which will reveal to you all truth and empower you to overcome every challenge you encounter in life. As stated in Acts 1:8, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you.” This supernatural and extraordinary power will equip you to face any mountain or obstacle that comes your way. 
 
John 20:22 – And when He said this, He breathed on them and said to them,  “Receive the Holy Spirit.” 
 
I remember a heartwarming experience during my time mentoring a young lady in California. She had been seeking help from a psychologist for quite some time. One particular day, I felt a divine prompting to treat her to a girls’ day out, where we decided to get manicures and pedicures. As we waited in our truck, I sensed the presence of the Lord guiding me to pray for her. During that prayer, something remarkable occurred: she experienced a powerful deliverance from the depression and mental health issues that had burdened her for years, and she no longer needed the medication she had been prescribed. Hallelujah, praise the Lord Jesus! When her mother took her back to her appointment with the psychiatrist, she said she didn’t know what happened to her and couldn’t explain the transformation.  The mother was astonished to find that her daughter no longer required further treatment. We knew it was the power of the Holy Ghost that delivered her from the torment she had been experiencing.  All glory and honor to the Lord Jesus for His incredible work in her life!  The same Holy Ghost power is available to set the captives free even today.  God is still well able to heal and deliver His people! May that same resurrection power that raised’ Y’shua from the grave quicken our mortal bodies.   
 
Another vital aspect to consider, among various factors, is the possibility of nutritional or hormonal deficiencies that may need to be taken into account. 
 
Here is a commentary that I found about our Wonderful Counselor: 
 
In ancient Israel, a counselor was portrayed as a wise king, such as Solomon, giving guidance to his people (1 Kings 4:34; Micah 4:9). Isaiah uses this word again in 28:29 to describe the LORD: “This also comes from the LORD of hosts; he is wonderful in counsel and excellent in wisdom.” Jesus is a wise counselor. “He did not need any testimony about mankind, for he knew what was in each person” (John 2:25). He is able to advise His people thoroughly because He is qualified in ways no human counselor is. In Christ is “hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge” (Colossians 2:3), including the knowledge of all human nature (Psalm 139:1–2). Jesus always knows what we are going through, and He always knows the right course of action (Hebrews 4:15–16). 
 
Christ’s position as our Wonderful Counselor means we can trust Him to listen to our problems and guide us in the right direction (Proverbs 3:6). We can be sure He is listening because He told us to pray to Him about our worries (Philippians 4:6; James 1:5). We can be certain He has our best interests at heart because He loves us (1 John 4:19). And His love is so wide and deep (and wonderful) that we cannot fully understand it (Romans 5:8).

Isaiah 9:6 – For to us a Child shall be born, to us a Son shall be given; And the government shall be upon His shoulder, And His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
