Psalms 45:1 - My heart overflows with a pleasing theme;
I address my verses to the king; my tongue is like the pen of a ready scribe.

Angel Sighting

A few years ago, I was flying home to Detroit from Atlanta. Just before takeoff, I said a silent prayer, asking God to surround the plane with His angels.

Everything went smoothly, and as we reached our designated altitude, I breathed a sigh of relief and settled back in my seat to enjoy gazing out the window. Suddenly, I noticed what appeared to be an angel standing on the wing with out-stretched wings. He was distinctly outlined.

I did a double take, deciding it was a cloud and brushed it off. I thought about what I’d seen. Could it have been an angel? I pondered. After all, I had prayed for angels to surround and protect the plane. I looked again, and sure enough, the angel was still there.

I saw the wings flutter ever so slightly, giving me an answer. My heart raced as I hurriedly reached for my cellphone to take a picture, but by the time I dug it out of my purse, the angel had disappeared.

Barely able to contain my excitement. I told the lady sitting next to me about my angel sighting. I wanted to share this with her because before we boarded, she had confessed to being terribly afraid of flying.

Her response was: “Oh yeah” And then she looked at me though I were crazy. I realized then that what I saw had been for my eyes only. I felt a peace inside my heart that stayed with me throughout the flight and had no fear at all when the plane landed, for I knew that this angel was keeping us all safe.

Still, I regretted not being able to get a picture. However, the following week, I was watching Inside Edition, and a man had videotaped an angel in the clouds that looked like the one I had seen on the wing of my plane.

I felt so blessed, grateful and thankful to the Holy God of Israel for this remarkable and supernatural experience!
