Psalms 45:1 - My heart overflows with a pleasing theme;
I address my verses to the king; my tongue is like the pen of a ready scribe.

An Extraordinary Encounter and Series of Events!

The other night, while engaged in a phone conversation with my son, an extraordinary series of events unfolded before me. As I spoke, my husband stood at the door, appearing restless. Though I sensed something was amiss, my attention remained focused on my conversation. Suddenly, a profound transformation occurred. My husband’s eyes became ablaze with fiery intensity, tears welling up, as he was overcome by the power of God. He began to prophesy ah message to our son, and I could feel the tangible presence of God filling the room. Overwhelmed by the encounter, tears streamed down my face.

Later, as I lay in bed, my husband ventured into the living room. I heard him exclaim, “Whoa!” Curiosity piqued; I inquired about the commotion. He described witnessing a mesmerizing display of lights in the sky. It was an unexpected spectacle, as there had been no forecast of rain or storms. Moments elapsed, and once again, he called out in astonishment. I asked, “What is it now?” He exclaimed, “I’m watching a light show!” The blinds, which are typically drawn, had been left open that night.

Suddenly, we hear a buzzing sound, akin to static, and I hollered, “What in the heck was that?” I asked my husband what was he messing around with, but he insisted he had done nothing. It was then he revealed that a bolt of lightning had entered through the window, striking the metal coffee table located on the side where I normally sit. Panic and fear gripped me instantly. However, I quickly reminded myself that the God of Israel, the one I serve, is a protective God and would not allow any harm, hurt nor danger to come upon me. I knew in my heart that He only desires the best for me. Immediately, a profound sense of peace, a peace that surpasses all human understanding encompassed me. In that moment, I stood in awe and reverential fear of Him. This extraordinary experience served as a sign and wonder that I had been praying for.

Lightning was prominent on Mount Sinai when God was present. In the Holy Bible lightning can represent His presence, but also wrath.

Take a look at some scriptures regarding lightning:

  • “Then it came to pass on the third day, in the morning, that there were thundering’s and lightnings, and a thick cloud on the mountain; and the sound of the trumpet was very loud, so that all the people who were in the camp trembled.” —Exodus 19:16
  • “Now all the people witnessed the thundering’s, the lightning flashes, the sound of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking; and when the people saw it, they trembled and stood afar off.” —Exodus 20:18
  • Thunder and lightning are sometimes spoken of as tokens of God’s power or wrath. “He causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth; He makes lightning for the rain…” —Psalm 135:7
  • “Lord, what is man, that You take knowledge of him? Or the son of man, that You are mindful of him? Man is like a breath; His days are like a passing shadow.
  • Bow down Your heavens, O Lord, and come down; Touch the mountains, and they shall smoke. Flash forth lightning and scatter them; Shoot out Your arrows and destroy them.” —Psalm 144:3-6
  • “He sent out… Lightning bolts, and He vanquished them.” —2 Samuel 22:15

Job 37 – At this my heart pounds and leaps from its place. Listen! Listen to the roar of his voice, to the rumbling that comes from His mouth. He unleashes His lightning beneath the whole heaven and sends it to the ends of the earth. After that comes the sound of his roar;  He thunders with his majestic voice. When His voice resounds, He holds nothing back.
